Objectives: The SAAS course run by the University of Evry-Val-d'Essonne is part of the E3A master's degree at Paris-Saclay University. The field of autonomous aerial vehicles is in full expansion, representing the most dynamic portion, either in research or in development around air vehicles in general. In fact, intelligent aerospace vehicles have very significant application potential. Nationally, this is a major area of ??interest for competitiveness clusters such as ASTech Paris Region, PEGASE and Aerospace Valley and other clusters (CMQ Aeronautics and Space, Cluster Drones Paris-Region). In Europe, it is a strategic issue of development and sovereignty. The SAAS course is offered as a double degree with the Polytechnic University of Poznan (Poland): Master in Automation and Robotics, SAAS specialty. To benefit from the two diplomas, students must follow at least one and at most two semesters in Poznan. The training is backed by the IBISC (Computing, BioInformatics and Complex Systems) and LMEE (Laboratories of Mechanics and Energetics of Evry) laboratories associated with the UFR Sciences and Technologies of the University of Evry-Val-d'Essonne and 'Chair of Control' from Poznan University of Technology. The training is certified by the ASTech Paris Region Competitiveness Cluster.
The objective of the "Smart Aerospace and Autonomous Systems" course is to give students an in-depth and sufficiently exhaustive knowledge of aerial autonomous systems. The training aims at acquiring know-how concerning analysis and simulation tools adapted to aerial robotics, flight controls, planning and decision-making, perception and modeling and simulation. Study and research projects allow students to apply their knowledge to practical cases using the experimental platforms available at UFR. For students who choose the double diplomas, the distribution of semesters between the two universities is done as follows: Semesters 1 and 4: The choice remains with the student, Semester 2: Poznan, Semester 3: Evry. Within the framework of the double diploma, the courses of semesters 2 and 3 are in English.
Intended for: Students,
Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)
Prerequisites: Depending on the entry level (1st or 2nd year).
Scientific and / or technological knowledge and skills in electronics, automation, industrial IT; English. Knowledge in the aerospace field is a plus, without being compulsory.
Admission requirements: This training is selective, accessible on file to be submitted to the Paris-Saclay University website. The diplomas giving the right to apply depend on the desired entry level (Bac + 3 for entry in M1 or Bac +4 for access directly in M2, possibility of Validation of Studies, VAE and VAP), but must all fall under the scientific or technological field related to Electrical Engineering and / or Industrial Computing.

- First year applicants: M1 E3A "Site Evry"
- Second year applicants: M2 SAAS
Acquired skills during the training : This master delivers high-level training, as close as possible to the latest technologies, in close collaboration with industrialists and research laboratories recognized in the field. The skills acquired make it possible to:
- implement a "system" approach on concrete engineering problems in the innovation trades;
- master the entire instrumental chain associating sensors, actuators and field networks as well as the hardware and software architectures of the interfaces between the different elements of an autonomous system;
- master the software and hardware rapid simulation and prototyping tools;
- acquire a transversal vision in instrumentation of autonomous systems;
- acquire in-depth knowledge of on-board systems;
- be able to integrate transmission equipment;
- know how to comply with design objectives and constraints;
- have a developed sense of analysis and observation;
- master English.
Targeted careers : This "Smart Aerospace and Autonomous Systems" course prepares future executives for small and large companies with high innovation potential: aeronautics, aerospace and robotics. Opportunities exist in research and development in companies as' R&D engineer, integration engineer, test engineer, engineer in charge of business ... The course also leads to research and higher education, after a Ph.D.
Duration and terms: The training takes place over 2 years. Specialization is progressive. The 1st semester of the 1st year is common to all the courses of the mention, the establishments involved each intervening in their specialties. In the 2nd semester, specialization is introduced at Poznan university of technology (networks and programming systems, fundamentals of autonomous systems, nonlinear systems, adaptive control, basics of smart systems, sensor integration, management). The second year is entirely devoted to specialization (Aerial robots, advanced artificial perception, aeronautical software, flight communications, flight control, flight modeling and simulation, flight planning, integrated navigation and guidance systems, mission decision making, sensors fusion, AI and Aerospace systems and mission coordination) and discusses more modern techniques (for example IMU / GNSS hybridization, SysML modeling). The courses of semesters 2 and 3 take place in English. The second year of the Master includes an internship in the second semester (6 months) in France or abroad.
Lessons in aeronautics and space represent a quarter of training in M1, more than three-quarters in M2 (internship included).
Notes: Over 90% of permanent teachers carry out research activities in one of the two laboratories associated with the UFR of Sciences and Technologies (LMEE and IBISC). They work on air and road transport issues, on launchers, on aeronautical and space robotics, in the following disciplines: optimization, modeling and simulation, automatic and signal processing, on-board IT. Strong partnerships have been developed with CNES, Eurocopter, ONERA, the École des Mines de Paris, the ICARE laboratory and the Gustave-Effeil University. The training benefits from the support of the Paris Saclay Campus establishments involved in the mention of a master's degree.
The university is a training operator for its CFA outside the walls (AGESUP) and hosts a Startup and CRT incubator, some of which come from the UFR S&T. She is a member of the ESSI (Evry-Sénart Sciences et Innovation), an interdisciplinary pole bringing together players in higher education and research in the Evry region around research, training and innovation; it brings together our university, the Genopole, the CHSF, TSP, IMT-BS, the Materials Center and the ENSIIE.
The course is part of the Paris Saclay Campus, in a master's degree grouping CentraleSupélec, L’ENS Paris-Saclay, SUPMECA ,. The University of Evry-Val-d'Essonne is a founding member of the Université Paris-Sacay with the status of Associate Member University with the prospect of a merger on January 1, 2025.
The university chairs the thematic area Employment, Training & Research of the ASTech Paris Region Competitiveness Cluster, and is a member of CIRAS of Versailles. She is co-founder of the aerosynergie aeronautical training network (public and private establishments in Ile de France, representatives of GIFAS, FNAM, the Air Force, the Region and the Rectorates of Ile de France). An agreement binds us with the Alexandre Denis de Cerny high school and the CFA for air crafts (pooling of technical resources and teachers). These actions are supported by Air France Industries.
Collaborations have been set up with ONERA, Bertin Technologies, Roxel and EADS, as well as engineering schools such as ISAE, ESTACA and IPSA, initiated around the PERSEUS project piloted by CNES. A multi-party framework agreement associates us with these companies and schools around common training and research activities.
The UFR S&T has specific resources specific to its aeronautical activities: ULM and mini-drone construction workshop, light aircraft and helicopter maintenance workshop, avionics laboratory, experimental rocket construction workshop in partnership with CNES and an aviary for indoor testing.
The establishment offers its students the opportunity to learn how to fly light aircraft: it prepares for the BIA theory tests, and has a flight simulator for light aircraft.
