Objectives: TThe materials specialty concerns the study of numerous materials: metals, ceramics, polymers, glasses, cements, semiconductors, composites, etc.
The POLYTECH DIJON Materials engineer therefore has a solid scientific and technical culture in the areas of development, characterization, control and implementation of major families of materials.
The materials engineer is able to lead a global project:
– from design, to recycling, including manufacturing processes and characterization methods
– within the framework of sustainable development
The Materials specialty offers 2 options:
- Materials
– Non-Destructive Testing: apprenticeship over the 3 years of the engineering cycle. This training, unique in France, trains engineers in the skills required in Non-Destructive Testing. This type of control makes it possible to characterize the state of integrity of structures or parts at the time of manufacturing as well as during their use cycle, without degrading them and using high-tech tools. This concerns all types of materials (metals, construction materials, composite materials, polymers, etc.) and many sectors of activity.
The specialty offers a solid base of technical and scientific knowledge but also transversal skills essential to an engineer: project management, communication, philosophy/history of science, management, QSE/CSR, company visits, 2 compulsory modern languages, etc.
