Objectives: The "Sensors, Instrumentation and Measurements" course is common to two Master's degrees at Sorbonne University (Fundamental Physics and Applications and Engineering Sciences). It is co-accredited with the École Supérieure de Physique et Chimie de la ville de Paris (ESPCI).
This course, through a fairly generalist teaching, allows students to acquire very good knowledge of innovative methodologies in various fields covering the environment, medicine or industry. Its purpose is to give students a broad and diversified training in sensor physics, signal acquisition and processing, as well as data analysis, in order to master a complete measurement chain.
The emphasis is on industrial and environmental applications and addresses miniaturization techniques. Modern methods of non-destructive testing and imaging in complex environments are presented.
The CIMES course ends with a 6-month internship taking place in an industrial environment, or in a research laboratory for students wishing to continue their studies up to a thesis.
Intended for: This specialty is aimed at both students whose previous background was in physics or electronics, as well as engineering students.
Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)
Targeted careers : The CIMES specialty prepares students for integration into research and development departments in the industrial sector developing sensors, acquisition systems, computer simulations, instrumentation and data processing.
The job market is made up on the one hand of companies using sensor systems (automobile, aeronautics, space, metallurgy, industrial chemistry, nuclear, etc.) and on the other hand of those which develop sensors or systems sensors. These companies are spread across the entire national territory, in Europe and in the rest of the world (this multinational character is often specific to firms).
The CIMES specialty also promotes the integration of students into research laboratories, through access to doctoral studies in these fields.
