Course Details

Objectives: The objective is to train versatile senior technicians who perform and use measurements. These measurements call upon a broad spectrum of knowledge in the fields of physics, chemistry, materials, electronics and IT, as well as skills focused on industrial control, metrology, instrumentation (tests, trials, research and development, etc.), the characterization of physical and physicochemical quantities and environmental measurements.

Regardless of the sector of activity, the Physical Measurements graduate ensures the choice, implementation and implementation of the measurement chain, from the sensor to signal acquisition, data exploitation and transmission of results, in a context of sustainable, economic, metrological and quality assurance development.

Its activity is divided into different areas: analysis, design and implementation of a measurement chain, analysis, exploitation and communication of results, production and industrialization, quality approach and management of a fleet of instruments, carrying out studies and technological monitoring.

At IUT1, the Physical Measurements specialty offers two possible courses in the 3rd year:

Instrumentation techniques with reinforced skills in physics (acoustics and vibrations, electronics) and instrumentation computing.
The graduate is more particularly an expert in the design and implementation of a measurement and instrumentation chain.
His course allows him to be adapted to testing and industrial control laboratories, to companies in the instrumentation sector.
Targeted professions: scientific instrumentation technician, measurement chain design technician, measuring instrument piloting technician.

Materials and Physico-Chemical Controls with enhanced skills in controlling and characterizing the properties and structure of materials, chemistry and physico-chemistry.
The graduate is more particularly an expert in characterizing materials and physico-chemical controls. His career path allows him to be adapted to companies and organizations with testing and control laboratories on materials or physico-chemical analysis services.
Targeted professions: materials characterization technician, physicochemical control technician, industrial analysis laboratory technician.

Intended for: Holders of a general baccalaureate specializing in physics, chemistry or technology STL or STI2D, an equivalent level of studies or validation of acquired skills.

Degree Level (EU) : 6 - (EQC level or equivalent)
