Objectives: At the end of this course, you will know: how to manufacture a refractory ceramic product and analyze the extent of the properties that can be attributed to them.
Description
How and what are space shuttle catalytic converters and tiles made from?
Why is the interior of a household waste incineration oven resistant to high temperatures and thermal shock?
The answers to these questions have one thing in common. They relate to ceramic materials. This course aims to introduce you to the world of mineral materials science. More particularly, it is a question of addressing a very specific subject, that of high-performance refractory ceramics present in multiple fields of application such as aeronautics, automobiles, construction, etc.
To do this, after having defined together the term “ceramic”, we will present to you certain manufacturing processes for these materials, their structure at different scales as well as their remarkable thermal and mechanical properties.
This course is aimed at any curious person wishing to enrich their knowledge.
