Objectives: Gain autonomy in the selection, conduction, processing and interpretation of simple mechanical tests, through a theoretical approach.
Intended for: Engineers with general training or practice in mechanical characterization.
Basic knowledge of material strength and composite materials.
Acquired skills during the training : 1. Principle of mechanical tests
- The choice of the measured quantity.
- The various mechanical tests (traction, compression, bending, shearing, impact, creep, etc.)
- Testing standards and requirements.
- Preparation of specimens: machining, packaging, heels, gauges, etc.
- Experimental conditions.
- Testing and measurement means.
- The parameters influencing the measurement.
- Breakup methods.
- Validation of the measurement: choice of criterion, normative environment, etc.
- The different types of test pieces and their control.
2. Understand the fundamental principles of mechanics
- Reminders of mechanical concepts (force, stress, deformation, Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, etc.).
- Introduction to the resistance of materials.
- Processing of generated raw data
- Data interpretation
