Course Details

Objectives: The concept of offering a Masters Degree in Pure Space Technology is unique - it clearly stands out from generic aerospace course offerings at other universities. The University of Bremen's master's program in space engineering is to be offered as an interdisciplinary master's program of Faculty 4. Faculties 1 and 3 support and complement the courses offered in the master's program. The aim is to train graduates in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Physics as well as Industrial Mathematics / Mathematics capable of innovating and interdisciplinary solving of constantly growing high-tech tasks in the field of space travel and related fields.

The master’s program aims at preparing students for an assignment in aerospace industry. With the focus on state-of-the art technology, following the master’s program offers everything necessary to a successful professional career. In the compulsory modules, the knowledge gained in the respective Bachelor's degree will be solidified and complemented. The modules ‘Space Flight Theory’ and ‘Space Environment & Testing’ are designed to introduce the students to space engineering and lay the basis for the more advanced modules ‘Satellite Systems’ and ‘Subsystems’. A course given by the concurrent-engineering facility of the DLR-institute is planned. In the elective modules, applications of space engineering to specific satellite systems will be covered.

Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)

Targeted careers : can be in industry with respect to space applications and/or in fundamental sciences as part of our PhD program following a successful completion of the SpE master’s program.

Duration and terms: The application deadline for both Master's programs for the winter semester is April 30 and for the summer semester October 15 of the previous year. Attention: Since this is an "international" study program, the application deadlines are far ahead of those of the "other" master's programs.

The course can be started every semester. The admission requirement is the B.Sc. respectively B.Ing. engineering, physics, mathematics or technomathematics with 210 / 180CP. The international master's program thus comprises 120 credit points, which are completed in English in a standard period of 4 semesters. The credit points are distributed over the introductory semester (30CP), the compulsory modules 36CP), the optional compulsory modules in which a specialization takes place (24CP) and the master's thesis (30CP). The entry semester may be waived for appropriate bachelor graduates with 210 CPs.
