Objectives: The Master in Mechanics trains senior executives of a high scientific level in the fields of mechanics and mechanical engineering. For this, it aims to provide solid knowledge in the fields of the design and manufacture of machines and robots, the mechanics of structures and systems and their reliability, the mechanical behavior of materials and their durability, and experimental mechanics.
Intended for: Graduates from the site's professional licenses in the field of Mechanics, or from French or foreign training at a level equal to or higher than the License in the fields of Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)
Admission requirements: In M1, recruitment on file of graduates from the site's professional licenses in the field of Mechanics, or French or foreign training at a level equal to or higher than the License in the fields of Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
Direct admission on file in M2 is possible for graduates of French or foreign training at a level equal to or higher than M1 in Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
Acquired skills during the training : In M1, the training aims at the acquisition of fundamental notions and methods of design and modeling in Mechanics. It makes room for learning industrial tools for modeling and calculation, as well as for the practice of English, communication and corporate culture, so as to prepare for the end of internship. M1 and to facilitate subsequent professional integration.
In M2, the skills targeted at the end of the training are as follows:
• fundamental or applied research in mechanics (structures and materials) and mechanical engineering
• research and development engineering in mechanics (structures and materials) and mechanical engineering
• design and dimensioning of constructions, complex mechanical systems, machines and robots
• project management in Mechanical or Mechanical Engineering
• implementation of probabilistic or reliability approaches in the design, sizing or appraisal procedures
• evaluation of the durability and maintenance of structures and mechanical systems
• design of composite and innovative materials (eco-materials, smart materials), characterization and measurement of their mechanical properties
Targeted careers : This diploma prepares for professional integration in engineering-level functions in studies, research and development departments in companies or in technical centers in the mechanical sectors. For students wishing to move towards research professions, it constitutes an initiation into research which allows them to consider pursuing a thesis in France or abroad
Duration and terms: 2 years.
A minimum 12-week internship is planned at the end of M1, followed by a second minimum 20-week internship corresponding to the second semester of M
Partnerships with national organisations: Campus Aéronautique Auvergne Rhône Alpes
