Objectives: The objective of the materials specialty at Polytech Grenoble - INP, UGA is to train general engineers capable of working with composite materials or hybrid or multi-material products.
The teaching therefore covers all families of materials: ceramics, semiconductors, metals, polymers. By relying on fundamental sciences, future engineers will learn to master the development, characterization methods and properties of the families of materials previously mentioned.
Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)
Acquired skills during the training : The objectives of the training were described according to 4 blocks of professional skills (RNCP sheet):
Develop new innovative materials or multi-materials while taking into account technological, economic, human and environmental constraints.
Organize the production chain of a product from the supply of raw materials to the supply of the deliverable.
Implement methods of analyzing materials or products, analyze experimental results to identify malfunctions and adapt to new conditions while respecting environmental and societal constraints.
Take charge of the technical, economic, financial, legal and societal aspects concerning the management of projects integrating the choice, development or evolution of materials.
These 4 skill blocks of course include the two transversal skills blocks:
Integrate into a team, then ultimately lead and manage a team while respecting environmental and societal constraints; create and develop a network and manage interfaces.
Assimilate and transmit knowledge both orally and in writing in an international context
Targeted careers : The job families accessible from the training are as follows:
Research and Development Engineer:
Process, Industrialization and Production Engineer
Quality Engineer
Business / Project Engineer
Graduates work in companies from sectors such as the chemical, pharmaceutical and para-chemical industries, cosmetics, metallurgy, automotive construction, aeronautics and transport, microelectronics, micros and nanotechnologies, textiles, the sports industry, design offices, plastics, construction, etc.
