Objectives: In the armies, aeronautical expertise is a specialty just like any specialty in healthcare medicine, however without equivalence in a civilian environment (for the moment, procedures are in progress) unlike certain countries, particularly European ones. Thus, in France, military doctors carry out their activity for the benefit of PNs with different (complementary) levels of competence in medical branches (see below)/ and in medical expertise centers (after competition)
In the medical branches, this teaching provided at the CFMA/CPEMPN after the general medical course or during the course of a career, not exclusively oriented towards clinical expertise, gives a first aeronautical varnish to these future “PN doctors” (or “flight surgeons” in the Americans). It includes visits related to the aeronautical world (hypobaric chamber, human centrifuge, generator of sensory illusions, air units with aircraft in specific configurations, etc.) and 5 hours of flight initiation.
Targeted careers : In the medical branches, the practitioners (among other missions) carry out an activity of aptitude control (delivered by the CEMPN) and advice as close as possible to the aircrew, by being holders of the Brevet de Médecine Aeronautique de Défense (BMAD).
